Nadia needed a fairly straight-forward headshot for a specific purpose but didn't want something that looked exactly the same as every other headshot, so I tried to find a way to keep things classic but interesting. The key light here was a monobloc in a softbox up close camera-right (just out of frame). I had a speedlite wired to the camera in an orbis ring flash attachment serving as an overall fill light, another speedlight behind Nadia, camera-left, with a 1/4 CTO gel zoomed to 105mm aimed at her hair to get that golden glow and some edge light on her right arm. The background was originally white, due to two bare monoblocs cross-blasting the wall behind her, but I changed it in post with a combination of radial gradient fill layers and photo filters.
