RITA - Moscow, Russia
For some reason I simply could not get my external flashes to fire the way I wanted, and after trying for ages I eventually gave up and just went with one speedlite attached with a cord in a Lumiquest Big Bounce hand-held off to the side. While I do occasionally like using a big aperture (100mm wide open at f/2 in this case) to cream away portrait backgrounds (and it was also helpful here because the ambient light was fading fast), I always shoot a lot of frames because I know I'll usually end up throwing out at least half the shots because the eyes aren't in focus.

Taken at night with a couple of speedlites in the window, and one monobloc high camera-right.
